Man it felt good to be back on the radio again this weekend. I’ve also taken it upon myself to finally learn how to DJ, something I’ve been promising myself for quite some time now. From this day forward it’s go time, music ahoy! Been discovering lots of new music this week which I love sharing on my show, but also delving into old music that puts a little grin on my face. Being stuck in traffic on the daily commute to work means more radio listening time, every cloud and all that.
Bastille – Sleepsong
A free download from Itunes I am absolutely in love with Bastille and can’t wait for the release of their upcoming album. Performing last year in Gloucester I’m gutted that I missed them, big things coming for these guys in 2013.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – Thrift Shop
Heard on the Hew Stephens show this is a brilliant song that is really catchy! A great shoulder bouncer for when I’m driving in the car.
Anavae – World in a Bottle
Recommended by the great people at Lab Records Anavae are a new wave Paramore with a hint of Hadouken home grown on British soil. Their EP Storm Chaser is coming out next week so make sure to check it out!
Cornershop – Brimfull of Asha
The one thing I love deciding about the playlist to my weekly show is what song do I open it up with. This week it went to Cornershop for some rather nostalgic 90s love on a sunny Saturday morning, went down a treat!
Dixie Cups – Iko Iko
As said previously it is my mission to learn how to DJ properly, mixing old with new this classic is going to make a prominent appearance – how could it not make anyone happy.
