As music institutions are knocking on deaths door, The Vaccines are doing a fundraiser gig to help save Southampton venue The Joiners.
Hosting gigs from Radiohead to Oasis and Coldplay in their early days, the 150 capacity venue is struggling to obtain ticket sales they once had, with punters declining over the last two years.
Previous fundraising efforts have been made, notably by Frank Turner who performed two shows in one day last year.
The Joiners opened in 1968 and is coined as “a place where you have to play to get started,” according to the Arctic Monkeys, while Friendly Fires has said: “without the Joiners Arms and other venues like that around the UK, we would not be where we are, and for that we are so grateful.”
Taking place at The Joiners on 22 January, all proceeds from The Vaccines gig will go towards saving the venue.
