Frank Turner Plays Surprise Gig Ahead Of UK Tour

How on earth did I miss this! Earlier on this year I saw Frank Turner perform at the mecca of all British musicians, Wembley Arena, and last night he only turned up on my doorstep right here in the shire. Well not literally on my doorstep, but he wasn’t too far away!

In the track ‘Rivers’ taken from his latest album ‘England Keep My Bones’, Frank Turner sings “Countless lives were lived and lingered in the Cotswolds and the Fells.” So to celebrate the eve of his UK tour commencing tonight in Leeds, Turner returned to the sweetheart of the Cotswolds to play an intimate gig in Cheltenham.

The gig marked the fifth anniversary of independent record shop Rise at The Frog and Fiddle, with other performances from Sonic Boom Six, Jim Lockey and The Solemn Sun, Imperial Leisure and Fighting Friction.

Following his surprise headline set Frank Turner tweeted: @fthc Lots of fun in Cheltenham last night. Now heading to Nottingham with @jlandtss and @Gregorynolan to meet@_sleepingsouls and start tour!

The giant tour will be his longest one in years and comes just after wrapping up his upcoming fifth album due for release next year.
